    Heatwave grips 24 districts, 12 dead in 24 hours in Bihar

    Around 12 people, including two jawans of the special armed police (SAP) died of heat stroke at different places in Bihar in the last 24 hours as the mercury breached 45°C.

    As per sources, six people died in Bhojpur while two died Rohtas and one each in Nalanda, Jamui, Gaya and Patna.

    Officials of the disaster management department (DMD) said they were collecting details of death caused by heat stroke in the state. However, the department could not confirm the official death figure.

    Several places in Rajasthan received heavy rainfall in last 24-hours due to Cyclone Biparjoy. The Met department has warned heavy rainfall in next 48 hours in many parts of the state, especially in Western Rajasthan.

    Adventure activities and tourism trips may be avoided during 16-18 June, 2023.

    The Met department in a letter to the chief secretary has informed that the Deep Depression (Remnant of Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy) over Southeast-Pakistan adjoining Southwest-Rajasthan and Kutch moved east-north eastwards with a speed of 05 kmph during past six-hours and lay centered at 05.30 hours today over Southwest Rajasthan adjoining Gujarat and Southeast Pakistan near latitude, about 130 km northeast of Dholavira, 120 km west-northwest of Deesa and 110 km south-southwest of Barmer.

    The death toll in the Balasore train accident mounted to 291 after a passenger from Bihar succumbed to his injuries at SCB Medical College Hospital here on Saturday, officials said.

    The passenger was identified as Sahil Mansur (32) of Roshanpur in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. He was undergoing treatment at the ICU of trauma care, hospital sources said, adding that the patient was also suffering from a kidney-related ailment. He was also under dialysis, they said.
